New Paralax Igniter™ Solid State RF Generator is Smaller, Lighter, Water Cooled for Reliable Operation in Harsh Environments

Labco/Trazar Introduce New Igniter Family of RF Generators in 13-, 27- and 40-MHz Frequencies, Power Levels Up to 5 kW

Santa Clara, CA -- January 16, 2001 --- Labco, an established global distributor and servicer of ICP and RF power generation products, and Trazar, a U.S. manufacturer well known in the semiconductor industry for its custom-designed automatic impedance matching systems, are introducing a new family of solid state, water-cooled RF generators in 13-, 27- and 40-MHz frequencies, with power levels up to 5 kW.

The first two RF generators in the Igniter family to be introduced at Pittcon 2001in Booth 1604 are the Paralax Igniter™, a 27.12 MHz, 1200 watt RF generator specifically designed for ICP applications, and the Shoe Box Igniter™, a 13.56 MHz, 3 kW model.

In lieu of power transformers, the Igniter RF generators feature FETs (switching power supplies) to provide high forward-ignition power and stable run power. The water-cooled Paralax Igniter also features a closed re-circulating system and limited airflow to allow it to function reliably in harsh environments.

“Reliable, stable RF power is essential for the formation of plasma in ICP applications,” says Gary Ater, Trazar’s director of marketing. “The Paralax Igniter not only meets a laboratory’s power requirements, but can also be used in factories or other production environments with high levels of dust, dirt or chemical pollutants.”

In addition to reliability, the use of advanced power supply technology results in an RF generator that, at 6-inches by 12-inches by 12-inches (HWD) and at 32 lbs., is 30 percent smaller and 20 percent lighter than competing solid state units.
